US seller but Amazon enrolled me to 13 marketplace

Hi! I am a new seller. I got my seller account on Tuesday. I didn’t touch any setting after I got my account, but 1 day later (on Wednesday) when I logged in to my seller center, I received lots of emails from EU marketplace + AU + JP. I was worried and I talked to the UK support 2 times.

I talked to the UK support and confirmed with them that I wanted to apply EU in the future. They told me I could do it but they sent me a link and asked me to close the EU account, but it stated that “The account closure is permanent and cannot be reopened.”

I just want to disable my EU marketplace which I did not apply for. And now I got an email from EU marketplace that "We were unable to verify the information you provided when registering for a Selling on Amazon payment account "

All I want:

  1. Disable the EU marketplace, I am not ready to sell on EU marketplace.
  2. I want to apply it in the future, not permanently close my EU account.
  3. I don’t want to face any consequences ignoring the EU emails, but I can’t do anything

So I did this:

  1. Inactivate all the EU marketplace
  2. Switch to individual account (Pending)

Please help, what should I do?
Will they charge me EU monthly fee?
Will they suspend my account because I ignored their “account verification” email?

Do you mean you applied “holiday” settings to those marketplaces?

Do you mean you downgraded your selling plan? (Not at all the same thing as switching account type, which might not be wise.)

I would imagine so.

I am afraid you did. It is the default option - a pre-ticked box that you failed to notice and untick when you signed up. You probably did the same for the non-European marketplaces

As @BonChoixUK has said, the individual account is different from the individual selling plan. If you are buying (or making) goods to sell, you must have a business account on Amazon. The individual account is only for people selling off their own possessions (unwanted books, CDs etc). You may therefore have to change your account type back to business (or cancel the change from business to individual, if it’s still in progress)

There are two selling plans : Individual where you pay a small fixed charge on each sale, plus a % commission, and Professional where you pay a monthly subscription instead of the fixed charge but still the same % commission. With a business account, you can choose either selling plan but it’s not worth going for the Pro plan unless/until you sell at least 34 items a month on average. That is the point at which the monthly fee is less than the 34+ fixed charges

You can downgrade from Pro to Individual. On your seller page, go to Settings - Account info - Your services and Manage to change your selling plan which will stop any further monthly subs being taken. When your account is fully verified (which may take some months) contact Seller Support and ask for a refund of the fees you have already paid. This is at Amazon’s discretion but is usually granted if you haven’t sold anything while you were on the Pro plan
