Read onlyWhen I send by Royal Mail Tracked it asks for the recipient's email and mobile number so that they can contact them if they need to arrange redelivery etc. There seems to be no way to get either from Amazon, though they could surely create a '@amazon' email so they could monitor its use.
Is there no way in which I can give Royal Mail any buyer's contact details? I usually give my own details so that if I get a message intended for the buyer I can pass it on via the contact form, but this is a nuisance and downgrades Amazon's service.
Adding to this, I tried to send a message to the buyer via form. Only options are Courtesy Refund and Send Legal Disclosures and in any case they send only fixed text which is not applicable.
So it seems there is no way for a private seller or Royal Mail to update a buyer with delivery information. Can this really be true?
You are correct regarding customers getting an inferior service but Amazon want control of everything, mostly to protect their revenue.
So, emails from 3rd parties are likely to be blocked, even if you do use the amazon email address.
Just use their mobile number which is available on the order page if the customer has given it and let Amazon do what they want regarding messaging customers.
