Evri - better or worse?
I stopped using Evri once RM began getting back to ‘normal’. Whilst they got me through 2022 (and lost more than all the losses I’ve had with RM over 8/9yrs), I stopped using them when I got fed up with their Next Day+ service which really means 2-3 working days. FYI - was using P2G.
I have a fairly big balance still with P2G. If I don’t use it within a certain amount of time, they just keep it (in the t&c’s). I was going to ask to withdraw the balance, but I have my 2024 calendars now and Evri was good(ish) for the ‘postable’ size (albeit a little more expensive - but the weight limit made it cheaper when sending more than 1 item and the packaging is cheaper and looked better) so was thinking I might just try them again.
Long intro to basically - are they improving since the start of the year?
I know some will never ever touch them (again) or have had nothing but horrible experiences. I accept that. I’m just hoping they haven’t ditched all the extra staff and gone back to being really bad?

Evri had a huge open net during the RM strikes last Q4, a chance to take a chunk of RM’s business for good, but they booted it into row z.
They’ll never have the infrastructure that RM have been able to build up. We got rid of them permanently a few months ago. It wasn’t just the missing parcels, they were a nightmare to deal with on the invoicing side of things as well. Constant mistakes, and then taking an eon to rectify. Seemingly very little communication between account managers and the finance team. Promises made and then nothing happening.
RM aren’t perfect and have their problems, but they are head and shoulders above Evri.

I had a few issues over Christmas but since the start of the year I have only had one. That was where a delivery could not take place due to them unable to access a block of flats. This for some reason led to the parcel going missing…
My parcel volumes are much lower though now over all platforms but I am not seeing any of the problems that I had at Christmas with lost parcels and deliveries taking 2 or more weeks to happen.

In our recent experience has been very poor. They lost an order wanted us to provide an invoice from Amazon despite providing the with proof of order and value they did not accept the claim. £24.00 order. They are a contracted courier but their claims process needs improving. Communication is poor because they do not respond to any messages after the claim has been registered.

I use Evri for virtually everything now and rarely get any problems. I only use their express service when I’ve got two working days to get it delivered (so if order is received Tuesday morning for delivery by Thursday and it’s not a remote address etc I’ll use them). Otherwise I’ll use Tracked24 or Special Delivery if remote area or NI. I’ve used tracked24 twice last week and both arrived two days later.
The main disadvantage for me of using Evri is pick up from the shops is anytime from 12pm onwards as I don’t do enough to get a collection. I find their claims service and customer service excellent but I always ring first thing in the morning when their lines open.
I though have stuck with Evri as the Royal Mail just wouldn’t give a competitive mailing rate last year, charging me more for the standard 48 mail than Tracked48 was being offered to the general public. I know large volume sellers get very good Tracked rates so cost must come into any decision.
I recently had a non-Amazon order delivered by Amazon so could that be an option? One advantage of that would be they’d have to either deny or pay out for any non-delivery a-z claims sent by that method!

I have used Hermes/Evri till last year.
After a couple of incidents, I started to use mostly Yodel, this year, for the cheapest books, then mostly Yodel, when RM went on strike.
It depends from what you ship, the expectations of your customers, if you can take a few more losses than with other carriers. It’s a trade-off.

This is why I buy it on the credit card and don’t put any balance in. We’ve £2-odd on the account which is un-spendable unless I want to put £20 on & then I’ll be back in the same position.

The box (even though it was quite heavy duty cardboard) of our latest Hermes delivery was ripped to shreds, luckily the contents (which were well protected) were too large to fall out of any of the numerous holes.

I am a SFP seller so I am told by Amazon to use Evri for certain parcles
The service is poor. My SFP metrics shows the on time delivery % at around 8%…Yes 8% on Evri deliveries are on time 92% not! However for me that is not the BIG issue. Customer service is so bad. They use a chat bot which is really poor. Anything that gets lost and I need to claim for is a real pain.
Thats my view.

Switched to Evri just before the strikes, our experience is they are slower, less reliable but cheaper.
Some additional losses but costs us <5% of the savings. Some additional time finding where they’ve left parcels for customers. OTDR 98.1%
I’ve said to our Royal Mail account manager if they can get closer in price we’ll switch back. They don’t even have to be cheaper, just closer. No movement yet.
