Auto returns questions?
hi,
i noticed AMAZON returns are now my myHermes, not royal mail;
however on several of my returns the tracking on Hermes site just states “We’re expecting it”, but on AMAZON it states collected by carrier (myhermes). who is possibly telling porkie pies?
presently NON of myhermes returns have come back to me, in some cases it`s been weeks and months, between pick up by carrier and an actual return.
so have i still got to refund the buyer because the tracking clearly shows no small large letter has come back to me? the tracking just says;
"Parcel from Amazon MFN Tier 5
Status We’re expecting it
We’re expecting your parcel to arrive with us soon"
the tracking numbers just say AMAZON customer has not given myHERMES person the item?
so if the items never come back to me
a) am i being charged regardless
b) is amazon refunding - even though tracking states no return to me has ever been made
c) could i get money back from myhermes if they lost the item (as i guess as seller i been charged to return the item).
so should i contact SS? or any i just barking up the wrong tree. cheers for the help anyone.

All returns say collected by carrier even though they’re not (not sure why)
So, you don’t pay til they’re posted
You don’t refund until its arrived back to you
And if its lost who knows because going off the forum amazon will say hermes and hermes will say amazon

I noticed this too - - ALSO I have had one return where it was a “change of mind” so I clicked the box to deduct the return label cost from the refund (£3.30). When I checked the refund later (it was the first auto-returned we’d had) I noticed that Amazon system had deducted £3.96 from buyers refund. This is £3.30 plus £0.66 VAT!!! So then had to do further refund for the £0.66.
On top of all this the buyer could have returned the item for £1.55 by Royal Mail - just waiting for a reaction at the moment though I did tell her this before she sent it back.

If the customer decides to no longer return the order then the return request usually closes after 30 days. The return request can be closed by the customer early if they contact Amazon customer services however large number do not. We have noticed we have paid for a Hermes return even before we are in receipt of the returned order. We cannot refund the order until the order has been checked to see whether it is in compliance with the returns policy i.e unused and original packaging with all tags etc.

It seems that when the return tracking says ‘carrier picked up the package’, it means the buyer printed the label and a tracking number was therefore assigned, but it doesn’t mean they have done anything else with it. The parcel has to receive a scan from the returning carrier before the seller is charged for the label. In the absence of any further tracking info, you can tell if the buyer has actually posted it by whether you have been charged.
