Returning Christmas tree saying it was the wrong item After Christmas !?
Had a customer who bought an artificial Christmas tree on the 14 th dec it went out on a next day service so she got it on the 15th. Then on the 28th wants to return because she said it was a different tree ! I asked why it took 14 days to get in touch as usually when a customer says it is a different item you hear from them within a day
Her reply was does not matter how long it took to inform me she has since opened an A_Z and I rang Amazon to say it has probably been up over Christmas now wants the money back ie used,The woman at Amazon agreed and said it would be sorted. Now been told I have to provide a label to send it back !!
Not happy with Amazons attitude to sellers I think we all know that the tree has been up over
Christmas
Everything is always in the sellers favor never appreciate what hard work the independent sellers on Amazon put in !!

Can you find the buyer on Facebook and see if they have posted any Christmas Photos featuring the tree?!

Post the buyers surname and first part of postcode on here, just in case she’s tried similar scam(s) on other buyers.
Crackers that made noise when pulled
Wrapping paper that arrived all screwed up, with sellotape all over it
etc ;^)

The problem for you is that the return request is covered under Amazon’s return policy. I suspect you need to authorise the return, inspect the item and if it was the wrong one and obviously used then deal with that. That’s the way Amazon works

I would inform the customer that, if the procuct has been used, he/she may not receive a full refund.

We have been saying this for years.
When will they realise they are supporting & encouraging this behavior? I have been begging for years for someone in Amazon to realise that without sellers they have no business model.
I’ve accused Amazon of supporting organised crime & still not got a sensible reply!
Just don’t roll over too quickly.

Not just Amazon, it’s the customer’s legal right.
But if returned used, no need to refund/fully refund. If you did send the wrong tree, you will have to refund the appropriate return costs but if clearly a change of mind, you don’t.

It’s quite sad that, due to the high number of buyers who are ‘playing the system’, the smaller number of buyers with genuine reasons for returning an item are being tarred with the ‘scammer’ brush.
Until the tree gets returned, nobody will know if it has been used, or if it was the right or wrong tree. Why speculate so vocally on a public forum?
Sometimes the customer is right!

Ask for a photo.
I always reply with something like. I am sorry if we have made an error. Please send me a photo of the box so we can see the product, and also if youuhave already opened the box then a photo of the contents. This way we can determine the best course of action to resolve this to your satisfaction.

(our bold)
We suggested putting their name (surname) and first part of postcode.
The reason for this, is that if the buyer is a scammer, then it’s searchable in these forums (and on google), for other sellers to see. If the buyer is genuine, then there won’t be a deluge of other sellers saying “They did this to us too”, so there’s no harm.
As an example of a real scammer, search the forums for ‘lopez’.
