The recording pen was mistakenly identified as an eavesdropping device

The recording pen I am selling was mistakenly identified as an eavesdropping device and removed from the listing。Does anyone know the reason?

Hi @Seller_CjrlbtSjPfNMG,

Looking at Amazon's Surveillance Equipment policy (link), I think I can explain what might be happening.

Under "Examples of Prohibited Listings," the policy specifically mentions "audio-only or audio/video devices that are disguised to look like something that is not designed to record sound." This could be why your recording pen was flagged.

The good news is that the same policy lists several permitted recording devices under "Examples of Permitted Listings," including video cameras and answering machines. The key difference seems to be whether the device is clearly marketed as a recording device rather than being disguised as something else.

If you believe your product was incorrectly identified, here's what you might want to try:

First, close the listing (the help page notes that simply moving it to Out of Stock isn't enough). Then reach out to Selling Partner Support with:

  • Details about your recording pen
  • Information showing it's marketed as a legitimate recording device
  • How it aligns with the permitted listings in the policy

Keep your appeal focused on the facts about your product and how it complies with the surveillance equipment guidelines.

Hope this helps explain things!

Hello @Seller_CjrlbtSjPfNMG,

Thanks for reaching out. @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Z has provided you with some good advice regarding looking at the policy they provided. However, as your product is disguised as something other than what it is, it's not allowed on Amazon.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Michelle
