I am now no longer able to message my own customers

I have sold on Amazon for around 13/14 years now and I have just had a message telling me, that any messages I initiate to buyers will no longer be sent, as I have broken a guideline.
They have not told what I have done, or sent an example, but told me I have to stop or this Temp ban will be permanent.
From what I can see, as we send very few emails in Amazon, it is the fact we send customers confirmation emails, when items have been sent and detailing the order for them.
I have mentioned this to Amazon to ask was this possibly the reason and without saying yes, they told me there was no need for us to send any such emails, as Amazon already does it.

As an Amazon customer, any confirmation I get from Amazon re an order I make is usually not worth the bother. But basically it would seem my hands have yet again been tied by Amazon, as to how I can communicate with my customers.

It just gets worse.

We’re not supposed to contact buyers unless absolutely necessary. Amazon send more than enough emails without sellers spamming buyers as well.

That will be it, and tbh it really is a waste of your time, despite you wanting to give exemplary customer service, as most of us do want to. If the customer really wants order details they can check it on their account, and Amazon do automatically send confirmation emails, so you are just duplicating emails.
So that you do not lose the ability to communicate at all, then I would stop these.
I don’t know about you, but I get too many emails as it is.
You can still communicate with your customers, but why send duplicate and unnecessary ones ?

Have a read through the communication guidelines. The emails that you are sending are given as a specific example of the kind of thing that you are not allowed to send.

Have you put any sort of non-Amazon / ‘offsite’ links in your messages?

Possibly the bots have picked up on a URL or something that looks like a redirection to another buying venue?

And yet I have customers asking for us to send them. I will have to start telling people that Big Brother Amazon will not let me any more and they will have to make do with the poor quality updates Amazon sends.

They aren’t your customers, they are Amazons … unless it may cost them money, or there is some advantage to be gained or lost by Amazon, in which case they are your customers.

As over 80% of messages are never seen by buyers it really is a pointless excercise sending any.

I’m afraid, I agree with Amazon completely on this. Upload the tracking and that’s enough info. I stopped buying from certain companies now because of the large amount of spam emails i get off them. I don’t think buyers need to be inundated with loads of emails. I have only sent about 12 emails in total so far to reply to customers.

P.S
They are Amazon customers not really yours, we only use their platform.

Since I have been blocked I have had several requests for order confirmations, and if these people are Amazon customers, then Amazon can also take on the responsibilities as the retailer then.
As far as I can see, if buyers don’t want the emails, they have the option in Amazon to turn them off from being received, but leave those that do, to get them.
