Amazon want is all ways..................

I get A-Z cases opened a closed in buyers favour because the item was not signed for even though photo taken, gps location etc.

Now, I am also getting A-Z cases closed in buyers favour because we sent the item signed for, the buyer is not in to sign for it, they refuse to collect after 3 failed attempts so item not delivered. The after being refunded, buyers goes and collects item, and Amazon still not interested. We cannot sue Customer under Amazon a-z rules, we cannot claim for loss as buyer has collected and signed for it and Amazon still refuses appeals as was not delivered in time.

Seems no matter what we do, Amazon will help the buyer to defraud the seller each and every time.

I had a situation a few days ago where the buyer opened a claim, I resolved the problem to the buyer’s satisfaction so they closed the claim and Amazon granted the claim again the day after. Apparently buyer’s can’t close claims once granted (which is not true) but Amazon have a process for buyer’s to close claims, they even have a help page. I actually contacted Amazon before the claim was granted again and told them that this would happen but Amazon will treat you as a liar even with screenshots showing claim was closed.

Amazon really needs to get its act together, there are now all sorts of scams being advised on Tick Tock and Instagram about how to get items free. This is basically by abusing the A-Z System and Amazon appear to be actively encouraging it rather than getting to grips with it.

Hello @Seller_OD408ZNiEUfUp,

I am Spencer with Amazon.

Can you share an order ID or a case ID so I can look into it for you?

Regards, Spencer

Sorry to hear this has happened, @Seller_OD408ZNiEUfUp.

Just to let you know that even a signature is not enough to protect you from losing A-Z Claims if they are raised; we find it just deters customers from trying their luck. This is all due to the statement which was added without notice some time ago to Amazon's A-Z Guarantee policy, here (linked): "In circumstances where the item has been delivered but not received by the customer, a Claim may be granted in the customer’s favour and debited from your account to preserve the customer experience."

This corrupt statement gives Amazon the power to undermine the integrity of all third-party delivery services. Aside from clearly enabling fraud, it is also incredibly anti-competitive. Forcing sellers to move towards FBA to protect their business operations. Further, is the customer ours or Amazon's? And surely if this is the experience Amazon wants their customers to get, they should debit the amount from their account or be more selective with their selling partners?

I am waiting for a selling partner with enough financial power to drag Amazon through the courts on this, however, there is things you can do in the meantime. Complain to the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) about them undermining third-party delivery services. Collect evidence and raise it with your MP. And definitely report this customer to Action Fraud UK.

Wishing you a lovely Christmas and all the best. Good luck!

Last month I received 2 messages along the lines: "Package didn't arrive request a refund" These looked like scams as genuine buyers tend to ask a few questions first like: when was it posted.

I sent a similar message to both:

"Sorry to hear you have not yet received your order.

Royal Mail gave it a tracking number: $$$$$$$$$$$$

And they show it as having been delivered on $$-11-2024.

I am attaching a copy of their report

Please check that it isn't with a neighbour or in a safe place

If not you need to contact your local sorting office and notify the police of a possible theft."

I have not heard any more! I find that mentioning the Police tends to scare off the amateur scammer! I sometimes say that if the package has gone astray I will notify the police myself!

I am posting in the hope that this might help some sellers.

The bottom line is Amazon already take there cut from the sale of your item so they are not bothered. Secondly they won't risk there repretation for not refund customers for the sake of unwanted sellers myself included.

At the end of the day the only way this will stop is if amazon starting to loose as well. Meaning The government will have to step in and order that if an item is sold on amazon if there is a claim of lost, stolen or haven't received the item been delivered etc amazon will have to refund sellers in full for the price of the item. Then they will start taking this thing serious.
