Is anyone using Flat Rate VAT scheme?

If you are, please can you confirm if amazon still charge you VAT on their services (referal fee and fba fee) whilst on this scheme.

If you are on flat rate scheme but not sure, please check by doing the following.

on amazon seller dashboard:

Reports > Payments > Transaction view > choose any sales transaction by clicking the (blue) value (e.g. £6.87) in the “total” column.

this opens the details for a specfic transaction.

there are values for “Commission” and “FBA fulfilment fee per unit”.

On the right hand side will say “base amount” and “tax”. If there is no tax title, or tax is £0.00, then it means you are not being charged VAT.

Just wanted to check if this was the case or not! Please let me know.

Thanks!

As soon as you put in your VAT number, Amazon stops charging you VAT. Amazon do not need to know what VAT scheme you are on as now he has handed over the VAT return job to you.

You will now have to calculate your own VAT as you like (FR or SR) and do a Reverse Charge on whatever you are earning from Amazon.
