Trouble Calculating Foreign Shipping Rates

I need to lean on some more experienced sellers with a problem I am having.

In the past week I have had 2 orders (one to Canada and one to Mexico) where the shipping amount Amazon has charged the customer is way too low for what I have for the shipping rates for those countries. For example, the item weighs 40 lbs. I have the shipping settings set to a base fee of $10.99 US dollars PLUS .50 per pound. However, when the order comes thru to me and I do the currency conversion, Amazon only charged the customer around $13 for shipping. Per my settings this should have been $30.99 ($10.99 plus $20 (which is .50 cents x 40 lbs).

I would appreciate any guidance you can offer to make sure I have this shipping setting correct.

Thank you.

your base rate should be the lowest cost possible for any package to the location (say a 8oz package if the smallest item you sell is 8oz or less. Then add increments by pound, the same as postage increases. Ad 18% to each, for the fees Amazon takes from it, unless you are willing to pay the extra postage yourself

actual cost $10, charge 11.80, Amazon will take $1.77 leaving you with 10.03 for postage and nothing for packaging supplies....

Hi @Seller_mKkQ422X6r1bs,

Indy from Amazon here. @Seller_4zBzdtgCyS9EI has provided good advice here. Your base rate may need to be adjusted based on the geographic location you're sending to. You can read more about how to do this in the Configure shipping rates and restrictions seller help article.

Please be aware that you will likely see shipping adjustment costs deducted as "Other" charges in situations like this from your seller account later on.

Let me know if you have additional questions, happy to help!

Best,

Indy
