Read onlyhi can someone help, I have just recently set up an Amazon handmade, obviously I have done the full process, so in the seller central it's asking for account information/ business UTR but I'm only selling on the handmade section, I'm not a registered business, and I make everything myself, so it's asking I'm I an individual or sole proiritor, would I just click individual, I'm confused
making a product and selling for a profit means you ARE a business and have to register on Amazon as such. You need to register with HMRC and get a UTR (tax number) which Amazon will need to verify your account. If it’s just you then you are a sole proprietor.
Individual accounts are for selling your own spare stuff such as books/cd's etc. If your making to sell as stated above you need to contact hmrc and set yourself up as a sole trader thye will then give you a utr which you can supply amazon with when you set up. At some point in set up the will ask if you want the professional plan for the time being say no and you can come back to that once your selling 35+ items a month.
Small word of advice if you havent allready start with etsy and ebay much easier to navigate and not so many rules to fall foul of. Then try amazon once your established and more used to dealing with large corporations with little support.

No you are not an Individual (that is not the same as sole-trader). Just to confirm that the above replies are totally correct.Buying or making goods to sell on for profit mean that you ARE a business and must be registered as self-employed sole-trader with HMRC (you can do it online) and have an Amazon BUSINESS seller account, not an Individual seller account.
Once you have received your UTR from HMRC you will need to submit that to Amazon. Also, as said above, you can be on the individual selling plan rather than professional plan until your sales start to build up, and once you are selling 33/34 items a month it is better to be on the pro plan paying the £30 a month. If you have already paid £30 then you are as well downgrading the plan for now until you start getting sales.
