Brand Registry - do I need ASIN?
I don’t have any listings yet, and am going through brand registry. I need to get GTIN exceptions on my products when I add them. Do I need to populate the ASIN field to submit the brand registry form?

STOP now! You have to be a beginner. Do yourself a favor and go in your Seller Central, scroll down and find "Learn". Click on “Seller University” and watch and understand all the videos and come back here after one month with specific questions. You need at least 4 weeks to learn the basics.
Selling on Amazon is difficult and has to be learnt BEFORE doing anything.

What @Seller_rI7BZIczK8iAC suggests is a great starting point! Going through videos, help pages, and the Forums itself will open your eyes to common issues you might run into as well as provide a great background for selling on Amazon.
I also want to attach our Brand Registry Application Guide for you to read through eventually! It does point out that the suggested ASIN section is optional.
