Don’t Know What Amazon Wants From Me - About To Close Account
Hi,
I am a British Subject residing for the last 25 years in USA. I never applied for citizenship but am a legal permanent resident.
I’ve been selling on Amazon USA for eight years. I decided to sell in Europe and create a new business entity. I registered the business with company house and it’s all legal and registered.
I got a mailing forwarding address in London for the business and a UK based accountant. When I filled out the Amazon UK seller info by mistake (or default) it put my personal address as the same as the business address. I don’t reside in the UK but in USA.
Amazon UK has repeatedly requested info about my residency. My ID and citizenship use my British Passport, since I am not a US citizen.
I have sent them my green card, California drivers license, utility bill, bank statement etc. all showing I live in the USA and they send back the folllowing.
Proof Of Address - Bank Account Statement
And then five bullet points more or less the same:
The issuing country of the identity document does not match the citizenship country entered in the seller account.
Can I not be British residing in the USA and selling in the UK? British Government seems to be okay with it.
What am I not getting? Do they mean my business or personal bank account entered for the UK?
As usual despite numerous requests and calls, they will not help and in typical Amazon fashion just want to make life difficult. If all I did was buy a $20 item a month I’d get better help than someone who sold for high six figures in the USA in 2020.
