Customer sent back a 10YR old laptop, NOT the £1,969.99 model they ordered

Can anyone offer any advice?

Sold a XPS 9700 laptop at £1,969.99, this was a re-newed model, as standard, we always cosmetically check the laptop and record the serial no. prior to shipping, the system was then placed in a mail bag and sealed with security tape via every angle

The customer then opened a return claiming we sent the wrong model

Received the return back today and they have sent a 10yr old red inspiron model laptop back (basically a worthless paper weight)

An obvious case of return fraud

But worried that the A-Z team will find in his favour

Any advice would be great

At that price depending on Amazons response, this for sure warrants a Letter Before Action & obtaining a crime number from Action Fraud.Hate these thieving B***ards.

Take photos of the returned item.
This is one you should not let go.

yes, we have done this and uploaded them to the 0% refund, but only gives the option for 2 x photos

Astounding! What reason did they give for the return??

I think you need to send them a carefully worded letter to let them know you are taking action asking them to let you know if they may have sent you the wrong item back ‘accidentally’.

we are waiting for the outcome of the A-Z case, hopefully all the info we have supplied amazon will be enough to prove this return fraud, obviously not the 1st time they would of done this and doubt it will be the last, but we are determined not to give in to this customer

Did you record the serial number of the device that you sent - it may help track the item down as likely the buyer will have to register it.

Some people are horrid!

But sadly Amazon has created a system that can be abused easily.

A-Z are a total joke - 99% are found in favour of buyer with no re-course for us sellers to fight the outcome.

yes, the serial no, was recorded when shipping, but not much we can do with just the serial no. , no way to block a laptop, but can report it as stolen
