Can I Parent ASINs with Same Category but Different Subcategories?

I have two nearly identical products — same function, same main category — but one uses foam tape to mount, and the other uses magnetic strips. They used to be in the same browse node, but about 1.5 years ago, Amazon changed the subcategory on one. Despite multiple attempts (including closing and relisting the ASIN), I haven’t been able to get it back under the original subcategory.

My question is: can I still list them under the same parent ASIN even though they now show up in different subcategories? Just trying to simplify the customer experience, but I don't want to violate any listing rules.

Hello @Seller_mknY8U48Mh6ab,

Thanks for posting your inquiry. If the products are in different subcategories they cannot be put in a variation. The products would not be considered the same if one is a mount with magnets and one is with foam tape.

If you have a case that you would like us to look into for more context into the products, please let me know of the CASE ID.

Regards,

- Manny
