What do YOU do yourselves: In "Manage Inventory" do you delete all the inactive SOLD items?
Maybe a silly question but…I’ve deleted only few of my sold items over the past 15 years or so and still have a small few hundreds of inactive sold items (out of stock, that I’ll never stock again, as I only sell 1 of each as they’re from my own collection).
What’s the point of keeping them there, right?
I’m tempted to prune my inventory, with its many sold items…Sounds silly now but I think I kept them there so far partly for sentimental value… Apart from that, I guess no major loss deleting?
What do you guys do yourself?
(Anyone also sentimental about nice sales done 10 years ago lol?..Not the big sellers of course…But I, seem to remember a huge lot of my orders!).
Also, there’s an old thread about it (2017) with the suggestion of ARCHIVING instead of deleting - really? That’s just what I’d like, keep it out of my inventory but keep it (apart); but I can’t find such option in my ‘Manage Inventory’ page.

OCD kicks in for me so if I know I’m not going to get the item back in I get rid.

I delete it in case it somehow mysteriously gets relisted without my knowledge

I’m a seller of mostly 2nd hand books, bought and sold for the most part in single units and so usually even duplicate stock has a separate SKU. I currently have 95,102 inactive units. It’s never occurred to me to delete them as I can’t see any advantage to doing it. Very occasionally having historical records of old sold stock is useful (although in the event of automatic or mandatory deletions that also wouldn’t be a problem)

I started doing a tidy up once a month and delete everything that sold out at least 3 months previously.
I have known stuff to get mysteriously relisted, although it’s been over a year since that last happened.

I think sometimes things Re-appear if you have used build international listings prior as they need deleting on all markets.
I could be wrong though

Could you just change the view to show only ‘active’ so the others are still there under ‘all’ if you fancy a trip down memory lane?
PS I totally get why you might want to keep them, I was a magazine designer in my former life and somewhere I still have a paper layout from the days before computers!

I’ve still got old stuff which I really should delete but there’s already enough work trying to sort out the mess Amazon keep creating.
Just remember if you do delete anything to make sure you download any financial info you might need first.
The last thing you want is a big headache when you come to do your tax return.

Keep them there and top up the existing SKU when further copies become available, rather than create a new listing each time.

we do delete as it will affect in stock rate etc… however what we found is that there are some stock which we thought will no longer be availabe (supplier gone bust) but able to get hold of some, the listing has been changed to gated :S

delete them because you can get a restricted-product-policy violation counted against you for listings, even closed, for items not allowed in future on Amazon due to changing laws (e.g. something containing over x% ‘dangerous chemical’)
