How can I turn off Auto Handling Time?

We process all the orders we receive FBM. I was recently diagnosed with cancer, and I am in the midst of receiving Chemo treatments. We would like to know how we can change this automated Handling Time. Praise the Lord I have been well enough to keep processing orders in between the treatments but this new automation is potentially going to be difficult for us to keep up with. We turn off the 2-day and Expedited Service the day before my treatments as a precaution, but that isn't going to help when Amazon is deciding how long it should take all shipments to arrive. I don't want to put our account on vacation mode because we have been able to keep up with the orders until this new "automation" took effect. We also have noticed that when we put the account on vacation mode it takes a minimum of 3 months to restore the level of exposure our products receive, so orders don't come in nearly as fast for several months, not to mention the fact that we need to continue to sell our store inventory in order to pay our bills.

Yesterday we received 3 orders to be mailed to California and Amazon's new automated system is telling us we have to change our preferred shipping method of USPS Media Mail or Ground Advantage to Priority Mail or UPS in order to meet the new automated expected "deliver by" date. Any extra shipping fee to make the change in shipping method would be at our own expense. Our company is on the east coast so a package shipping to California usually takes an average of 5-7 days to get across the country and now Amazon is telling us we have to get it there in 4 days.

If an Amazon customer care person can respond to this and let us know how we can change this automation, I would appreciate it. Also, Amazon really needs to take into consideration the distance a package is travelling including the seller's address when figuring the algorithm for how long a package should take to arrive at the destination.

Blessings,

Pat

Sorry to hear about the cancer but Amazon is run by BOTS and they don't really care about anything except getting the orders processed and shipped.

Go to your order handling capacity and set it to "1". That way EVERY order that comes in after the first one gets the expected shipping date extended by a day!

You can work on orders when you are able to but a lot of pressure can be alleviated.

I have used that for over a year now when we want to take a day or two off to take a mini-vacation.

These are the results from last fall when we took a few days off --

Handling capacity results!

I have used 2 days to give me a safety margin for when I want to go out of town for a day or two.

Since Amazon wants COMPLETE control of my life I decided that I can play games with the system as well.

They can disable the 2 day shipping time BUT they have not (so far) stopped me from using the 'Order Handling Capacity ' amount.

My wife and I needed a day away last week so I set that 'throttle' to ONE ITEM.

That way every order that came in kicked the ship date out an extra day!

We were gone for about a day and a half -- Thursday afternoon and Friday. The WORST that could happen was having ONE late shipment!

I came back to a ‘near normal’ number of orders despite those 'extended delivery times' but here is what happened to the ship by dates as they come in –

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 6, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 7, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 8, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 9, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 10, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 13, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 3, 2023 to Nov 14, 2023

and THEN it gets weird even for Amazon —

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 16, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 17, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 20, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 21, 2023

Ship by date: Nov 15, 2023 to Nov 22, 2023

and so on.

And everything was shipped on Saturday. FAT CHANCE of any buyers giving a 5 star rating for the items arriving before the expected shipping dates!

For only a day or two off this eliminates the need for a vacation setting and keeps your account safe as long as you do more than a couple orders a week!
