How long to get back to normal after Holiday Mode?

Hello all !

I took a much needed holiday recently and switched the holiday mode on because I was out of the country.

I was only away for 10 days, and my shop was switched back on the afternoon of last friday 20th September. It's now a week on and I haven't had a single order come through.

Is this normal? I'm in Handmade . TIA Selena x

Hello @Seller_EpXPhVLnbs8X3,

would like to draw your attention to this thread where other sellers have shared their insights regarding this topic.

On the other hand, you can find more details about the holiday mode setting here.

Kind regards,

Sarah.

I'm replying to my thread to bump this up again.

The day I posted this, I received an order.

I have not had another order since.

According to my stats I have had only 1 order in the last 30 days and am 96% down on last year. All I have done is go on Holiday, there was no option to extend dispatch times so I had no choice but go into Holiday Mode from the 10th-21st September, but it has totally killed off my shop completely and utterly.

I don't know what to do, I am promoting on my Social media channels every day as usual. I am a sole trader with a very small business on Amazon Handmade. Can anyone help me ?

Hello!

We have had a similar issue. We are the only seller for our product btw.

Went on a holiday mode from 5th to 14th of November (9 days total) and started everything back up again on 15th (including ads).

Prior to holiday mode had 5 - 9 sales a day, now 1-3 at best, though the ad spend is roughly the same.

Also prior to holiday mode we had first page results for a major keyword of ours - now, of course it is gone.

From other forums I've gathered:

1. After going to holiday mode, the algorithm interprets it simply as you do not have stock to sell, AKA you have gone out of stock, and of course as we all know, Amazon HATES it when you go out of stock;

2. For some changing the price has helped;

3. It will take some time to recover apparently, though some claim that their sales never fully recovered, though I cannot say if they did use ads or not;

4. Try and use ads. We are bidding way higher now than we previously did, to the point where our ACOS is what it was when we started advertising this product (which is around 100% ACOS). And even with the more aggressive approach Amazon doesn't even show our ads nearly the amount of times it did before the holiday mode (yes, even with way higher bids than the highest bid).

In conclusion this situation is basically like "starting over", therefore you have to push your product the same way (or even harder if there is more competition now) than when you first started. I do hope that you get your sales back.
