A few questions from a new-ish seller

Hi

Im a relatively new seller doing FBA wholesale and have a few questions and observations that i wanted to run past more experienced sellers for their advice or opinions if i may.

1) Is it a good idea to request reviews as a new seller from customers as i understand that review count helps to win the buy box. Ive single digit reviews at present.

2) How much if at all does the depth of inventory affect the buybox.

3) If i add a product to my inventory and stock that item, does it take time to win the buybox on it or am i eligible straight away ( excluding all other eligibility criteria such as price, review count, review score etc)

4)What is the best way to see if a listing is elible for the buy box. Some websites suggest that this info is on the inventory page and can be selected under preferences, but it is not visible to me.

5) what is the best way to manage inventory of consumable items that have a use by date. Should I only restock when i have completely run out of product on the listing. Im assuming that amazon doesnt have a first in first out approach with consumable items

If anyone would like to make a comment on any of the above id much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

Judging by your name I assumed you were selling books but from your question ( 'what is the best way to manage inventory of consumable items that have a use by date. ' ) I guess you are not selling books!

I was going to say that selling books via FBA (as opposed to FBM or SFP) is something very few Amazon booksellers do, due to costs.

Hello @Seller_LNXSqO0IzWPw7,

Here Simon from Amazon, happy to help.

Welcome to the Seller Forums! 😊

While I'm unable to advise on some of the topics, here few comments:

  • Request a review We don’t require you to request reviews because our systems already do that on your behalf at no cost to you. If you would still like to request a review for a specific order, we recommend that you use the Request a review feature on the Order Details page.
  • Featured Offer eligibility Here you can check if your offer is eligible for the Featured Offer.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Simon
