Fixing Stranded Inventory

Hi!

I’ve got 2 products which have been sold on the same FBA listings for a few years without incident. I sent stock to replenish them as usual last week, and it’s all been booked in as received, but these 2 are showing as stranded. I’ve tried to refresh it, but it’s not working.

The listings are showing as inactive (out of stock), but the stock is showing as available in my inventory dashboard, but they’re on the ‘fix stranded inventory’ box on the Seller Central home page.

The stranded inventory tool said to contact seller support, so I did, but their reply is nonsensical.

Their reply says:

" Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,

We understand that you have an issue with Listing for ASINs: B008C26HF0, B008C3J37I. I’ll certainly assist you.

In this regard, I would like to inform you that the inventory error shows when the inventory might be bound in a fulfilment centre for review or you might need to refresh your listing

Here, I have checked that there is no shipment wherein your units are bound hence, I would request you to kindly delete the listing and then create a new listing for the same with the same SKU and other details.

Now, if I delete the listings and make them again, won’t they be assigned different SKUs, and therefore won’t the SKU barcode labels on them be wrong? If the FC can’t link up the products with the correct barcoded labels, how will they manage it with the incorrect barcode labels?

Has anyone had a similar issue?

I had this once, turning it to FBM and then back to FBA after 5/10 mins fixed it.

You can assign a specific SKU, otherwise amazon will generate one for you - but I am honestly not sure how they would affect the FNSKU barcodes and wouldn’t be happy to test this myself

You would need to recreate them using the same SKU so that the FNSKU remains the same.

How long has this been since they have been received?

I have had this a couple of times and it resolved itself within a couple of days.

I have had this problem, It can be stock being returned from a customer that is unopened and undamaged and added back into your active stock but is not currently available for picking as it is it a return center.

I’ve got the exact same problem as you and received the same nonsensical email from SS.

After many open and closed cases SS finally agreed to get a team to look into this - well 3 weeks have passed and still no movement. I’ve just replied to the open case - asking for an update.

I’m going to give the covert to FBM a go and see if that addresses the problem as @Dedez suggested (thanks for the tip).

I’ll let you know how I get on.

With regards to deleting the listing and using the same SKU. I could be talking cr*p here - but I’m pretty sure you can use the same SKU, after you’ve deleted it, you’ll just have to wait for 24hrs. I’ve never tried it and I’d rather give Dedez suggestion a go first. If all else fails - I may give it a go - rather than wait for SS to get back to me.

Unfortunately changing to FBM didn’t do the trick.

Gonna have a cup of tea and decide whether or not to take the drastic approach of deleting the listing.

Just to update, mine did seem to fix itself over the course of a couple of days as the stock just became available and the stranded inventory disappeared.
