On Time Delivery Rates (OTDR) Affects account and New Metric Amazon will start?

Dear All,

I am sure you have seen this metric for on time delivery rate (OTDR) which Amazon want it to be over 97%.

I know it is NOT a requirement as of this moment, but soon will start becoming one.

  1. Do you think if on time delivery rate is low, Amazon will tweak delivery times being shown on listing pages? Ie. If you have your shipping template set to 2-3 days, Amazon will show a delivery time of 5-7 days to the customer?

  2. What happens for OTDR when Royal Mail do not scan a parcel or delay a delivery, this would impact us as sellers even if we have shipped on time etc.

  3. What is everyone’s OTDR. Mine currently is 99.85%, but I have had all kinds of % here, from 20% to 100%?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Sorry to keep bothering anyone. Does anyone have any insight?

No one knows if this will start to become a measurable metric.

I wouldn’t worry about it. You can be confident that Amazon will let us know - probably 3 weeks after it goes live!

Thanks for your response.

We are worried that this is the reason Amazon is padding delivery windows. For us even though our shipping template states 2-3 days shipping, they should like 7 days to the customer, meaning we are down on sales by like 80% now.

However, we now got this to well above 97%, and we are still having the same issue.

Are you guys having delivery window issues where they are increasing it, and what are your OTDR rates?

My OTDR rate is 83%.

It is difficult to tell if it is affecting my sales. They are down 80% anyway. This is mainly due to the restock limits and Brexit.

Surely if we are posting on time then the delivery is totally outwith our control and we should not be penalised for it.
I ALWAYS post same the same or next day and yet my OTDR has dropped to 77.78% when it was always 100%.

I’ve noticed that royal mail 2nd class (and I’d assume rm48) have extended times showing on amazon at the moment as if I use buy shipping most of the time 2nd isn’t available as it misses my promised delivery dates. 1st class is assumed to be next day but 2nd is showing 3 days

As sellers, we have no control over the OTDR and meeting a 97% requirement will almost be impossible all of the time.

I’ve got 94 Royal Mail Tracked 48 & Special Deliveries over a 30 day time window and one of my Tracked 48’s is showing as undelivered, dropping my OTDR down to 98.94%, one or two more and I’d be under the 97%.

These are the top two postal services that Royal Mail offer and if a Tracked 48 can still show as undelivered without a delivery scan, this metric would be the final nail in the coffin for all of us!

Unless of course that all Buy Shipping orders would be protected by Amazon under policy!

I am tempted to try this ‘edit to stamp/franking’ thing. But first would like to enquire whether anyone knows whether there are repercussions to doing this?
It seems like it’s a bit ‘naughty’ editing to a service that you don’t even really use just to get the VTR rate above 95%.
