SAFE-T Claim denied "eligible for free returns"?
"eligible for free returns"? I never signed up for this & I do not want any of my listings "eligible for free returns". I am 100% FBM except for 1 product which I am phasing out of & not this. I also sell on another site & do not offer free returns or plan on ever offering them. Is there something I need to do to opt out or was this SAFE-T claim just denied for the wrong reason?
SAFE-T claim ID # 15432-44249-0821535 Order # 112-4815870-4109805.
Buyer waited 30 days & opened return.
Return Reason:
Inaccurate website description
Buyer Comment:
It describes this book as helpful for ELLs learning medical terms, but the focus of the book is activities and exercises, not terms and learning.
Filed SAFE-T claim--buyer used inaccurate return reason. This should have been immediately approved since buyer's issue was with the content of book & not the condition or service I provide although most likely they just used this reason to get a free return
Denied--buyer returned in returns window.
Appealed--Did you even read my notes? This return is abuse of the returns system because the buyer waited the full 30 days before opening this claim. Buyer's stated reason for return is an issue with the content of this book, that it is more exercise based although they should have known IF they would have taken more time reading amazon's product information Nothing about this return is in any way my fault or related to anything I did. This was a "used book" that was correctly & accurately described & is now relisted with the exact same condition notes/item description.
Denied--buyer returned in returns window.
Appealed--My issue with this return is that the buyer used an inaccurate return reason. Buyer was unhappy with the content of the book which is not my fault or has nothing to do with the condition of the book or the service I provided. I have filed similar SAFE-T claims in the past & they have always been granted. Buyer could & should have researched this book better before buying. The book shipped was the correct book.
I agree, the buyer opened the return & returned the book within the returns peoiod. I do not like that the waited almost the full 30 days to do so, generally if you are not happy with something or in this case bought the wrong book you know immediately. This is not my issue, the buyer using the reason "Inaccurate website description" on a book that they did not like the content of is not correct, they bought the wrong book, in no way my fault.
Denied--The issue you reported is not covered by the Prepaid Returns for Seller Fulfilled Order program. The item you requested reimbursement for return label cost is "eligible for free returns".
I was out of town when I got this or would have appealed again. Clearly in the future I won't bring up how long the buyer waited to open the return since even they we all know they are just trying to scam the returns system they are within their rights. Very frustrating, I appreciate any advice on how to opt out of free returns.

Hey there @Seller_1Le3xvzF0gGyv- appreciate this synopsis of the situation.
I wanted to reach out to make sure you had these instructions on managing your free returns settings handy, should any changes be needed. That page also advises:
"Will prepaid return labels still be issued for free return items?
Returned items that are within Amazon’s returns policy and are eligible for free returns will continue to be automatically authorized; and customers will receive a prepaid return label on your behalf though Buy Shipping Services. We will charge your seller account for the cost of the return shipping label once the buyer sends the item back. For more details, go to Prepaid returns for seller fulfilled orders."
It sounds like there is no option to submit any further appeals against this claim based on timing, but hopefully this can help for future orders!
