Defective is out of control!
I recently sent my items to an Amazon DC, using partnered carrier (UPS). The items arrived at the local DC in one piece (I used single shipment option, paying placement fees), but were transferred to CA. When they arrived at CA, 84 of them were marked DEFECTIVE, leaving me with one option--recall them to my warehouse. I struggle with how this is possible, since the items are either A. damaged by FC transfer or B. are in showroom condition--see next line.
The last 10/10 items I've recalled for DEFECTIVE showed up at our warehouse in showroom condition. The only meaningful change was the giant LPN label Amazon slaps on the item that shreds if you attempt to remove it.
This is clearly an Amazon issue from my perspective, but I don't know how I prove it. Is there a process for issues like this? Am I able to appeal to a higher authority at Amazon on the 84 recently flagged, and the other items received in perfect condition?
Thanks for any advice!

I have the same issue. I know not to hurry to retrieve the inventory since its just gonna come back perfect with no issues.
In my case, the inventory is received at an inbound warehouses and goes through a few FC transfers and is SELLABLE, after 1-2 weeks it changes to UNSELLABLE - Defective.
Typically if a unit is defective from some kind of damage it'll be rejected right away, and it wouldn't be for every unit sent in.
As Amazon is the one claiming a defect, they are the ones that must report what they found so that action can be taken.
