VAT registration for non-UK resident (FBA)
Hi everyone,
I registered as a small business based in Ireland (ROI) and started selling on Amazon UK (FBA) a few months ago. The products I'm selling are imported from China and those are stored in the UK.
A few weeks ago, I received an email from Amazon stating that I need to be VAT-registered in the UK, and I found a link from gov uk about it. Yet, it's still unclear to me where/how best to register for VAT in the UK. Is there anyone who can point me in the right direction as to how best to start this registration process? Anyone else from Ireland going through the same process?
Thanks a mill!

you can do it off the gov.uk website (cant put a link on here) - you'll need to do it from when you first started fba

Yes, as a non-UK resident storing goods in UK for FBA you must be VAT registered as you are considered a NETP. You register via the gov.uk website - all very clear. As said in previous reply, you will also be liable for the VAT from when you started, so may have a backdated VAT bill to pay.

In case this helps the community, I opted for the VAT services on Amazon for the UK VAT registration and filings. There's a handful of tax partners to choose from who will be guiding me through the registration and hopefully, the filings go without issues.
Thanks everyone for chiming in here!
