At risk of deactivation but I don’t have a vat number yet

Pls help. I’m at risk of deactivation as my invoice defect rate is more than 5%. I have so many orders a day that I can’t check them all to see who’s a business customer and needs an invoice.

So I missed 3. I’m not registered for vat yet my accountant is working on it but what do I do in the meantime?

You send buyers a receipt that doesn’t mention vat for your past orders and enrol with amazon for them to send your receipts going forward

@JillyB1 has the link

Here is the link for Amazon to automatically send receipts for Business customers by declaring your VAT exempt status. You will need to create ones for any previous business orders.
Many of us used www.invoice-generator.com

Amazon generated invoices (recommended)

Amazon can generate VAT invoices or receipts on your behalf at no cost and make them available for customers to download. VAT registered sellers can activate the VAT Calculation Service and benefit from automated invoice generation. Sellers exempt from VAT registration in both the EU and the UK can declare their VAT exemption status and benefit from automated receipt generation.

Just to add, you don’t have to be VAT registered to send invoices. Don’t register for VAT unless your accountant has said you need to or it benefits you.

Hello @Street_Values ,

This is Mary from Amazon here to assist you.

From the post above I understand that you have concerns about the Invoice Defect Rate .

The Invoice Defect Rate (IDR) is all orders from Amazon Business customers, for which an invoice was not uploaded within one working day after dispatch, as a percentage of total orders from Amazon Business customers.

Amazon Business customers expect invoices for tax and accounting purposes.

“Alternatively, invoices can be uploaded manually via the Manage Orders page for the orders which were completed before VAT calculation service was activated.”

In order to provide invoices to customers, sellers can activate the VAT Calculation service and let Amazon issue invoices on their behalf at no cost (recommended).

Our policy is that sellers maintain an IDR under 5%, in order to sell on Amazon. An IDR above 5% may result in account deactivation.

Please refer Invoice Defect Rate Policy by clicking here.

If you need any further assistance, you can post here so that we can help you.

Regards,

Mary.

Basically, the Invoice defect rate has nothing to do with VAT, it is just how you upload any invoices/receipts.
