Royal Mail Tracked 48 CRL Compensation
A customer still hasn’t received their item and the tracking info doesn’t confirm delivery (it usually takes 1-3 days and it has now been over two weeks).
I think I can be safe in assuming that item is “lost”. Upon attempting to make a claim for the RM 48 CRL product, the message “Ineligible Claim
I’m sorry, we’re unable to accept claims for this product”
appears.
Why is it that I can’t claim? Surely if RM hasn’t delivered the item (value £30) they are liable to refund me if x days have passed and no delivery confirmation has been given.
Why doesn’t 24/48 CRL Tracked offer compen?
Is there any way at all to get compensation?
It seems mighty unfair.

You won’t get compensation because Royal Mail don’t offer compensation for CRL.
The cost of the savings if you are VAT registered usually offset the claims.
As to why they don’t, you would have to ask Royal mail that.

CRL isn’t tracked - Tracked is tracked
CRL is just a delivery confirmation scan which you signed away the rights to compensation when you opted into average weighting
For a service with compensation you need to go back to BPL - no average weighting though

Completely rubbish but you have to just grin and bear it I’m afraid. I’ve had several orders with no delivery confirmation and there is nothing you can do as that is the T&Cs you sign up to for RM24/48.
For this reason I have transferred several of my items to 2nd class, where the cost is not worth losing if the RM48 is not scanned as I at least can claim up to £20, which is the the wholesale cost of the item. Anything more valuable I send 2nd class signed which is compensated up to £50.

The terms and conditions vary depending on which dispatch method and service you use. We have had instances where the tracking information was not showing online and the order had been delivered so best to drop them an email.

TBF CRL (as you can’t claim) is not the service to use for £30 items.

Over the past 2 years, we found Royal Mail’s service deteriorated significantly. Their response to everything was just to keep increasing price. So we switched to Hermes (now Evri) for all except NI, CI, Highlands etc. Unlike Royal Mail’s CRL, Evri includes £20 cover, is cheaper than RM and we’ve found it no less reliable, despite their poor press. When we’ve needed to claim from Evri, they’ve almost always coughed up promptly. Unlike Royal Mail who either excluded claims (CRL) or made it so time-consuming it was barely cost-effective. We don’t work for Evri by the way. Just saying that in our experience they’re worth trying, as Royal Mail has just been far too complacent for far too long,
