Sage 50 Accounts For Amazon FBA

Hi Everyone,

I have come back to start selling on Amazon via FBA services. Since I do not have a lot of money to begin with I am personally liable for all the bookkeeping. I am registered under a limited company and I am using Sage 50 Accounts at the moment. I have come across various people saying different software are better, but I guess its a matter of opinion but I personally know how to use Sage 50 myself. (not a pro yet)

I’m curious to know if other sellers use Sage 50 and how do they account for the below.

Sales
Orders
Stock
VAT

I’m not VAT registered so as far as I’m aware when it comes to VAT i just need to be recording the VAT elements in all transactions accordingly. I am only selling in the UK only to being with.

How would you record your purchases if you go about to do Retail Arbitrage since you only ever get purchase receipts?would I need to request an invoice. I know for Online Arbitrage you can sometimes get an Invoice or request for one I believe?
Would you set up product details on sage?would you need to set up the name of the business you brought the good from and use the receipt/invoice to process the purchase invoice? If so is there another way of doing this as you can imagine buying from many different places and the time it will take to set up each supplier.

And how do you record your sales too? what details do i need since Amazon would do all the selling for me anyways? Is it easier just to set up Amazon as a Customer rather than setting up each sale to a different individual customer and how would i process this on Sage.

I have set up a Amazon Bank Account as Amazon would pay directly in to my Business Bank Account.

What else do i need to be aware of to correctly process my sales/purchases/stock

any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Bryan

Firstly you need to re-think where you are going to purchase your goods from. Amazon will not accept retail receipts as proof of authenticity. They require proper invoices from either the manufacturer itself or from one of their authorised resellers. Argos,Tesco.asda type will not be accepted.

Hi Bryan,
Sage 50 appears to cost about £30 a month. Since you’re not a pro at it, it might be easier (and cheaper) to look up some information about double entry bookkeeping and use free software. I’ve personally used GnuCash for about 5 years now (saving £1,800 against using Sage 50). Retail arbitrage can be difficult for the reasons mentioned by other posters.
