Just doing my admin in preparation for Monday - It looks as though "Automated Handling time" was activated on my settings at about 17h00 yesterday.
I've not requested this - it seems to have been been activated automatically.
Anyone else experienced this?
Have I missed a comunication?
TIA
We have just noticed our orders are all saying to ship the next working day, when our handing times are normally 2 days.
I have just checked and, like yours, our Automated Handling Times settings have been changed, which we have just switched off. We too did not request this. We keep our handling times at 2 days as we make most products to order and do not hold stock, so although we mainly ship out the next working day, we have a buffer zone. It also means that as we ship quicker we can use 2nd Class instead of 1st with most still arriving by the deliver by date. As our orders a low value, this postage saving is critical to keep our prices low.
I suspect a lot of sellers will tomorrow be seeing a ship by today to prevent late shipment metrics being hit.
Same here, no communication just automatically switched on. I make all my items to order and have a 5 day handling time. I have been pretty quiet last few months so been making things a little quicker. Today noticed most of my items were on a 1 day handling time. I would have to work 24 hours a day if work picked up.. I have switched mine off. I feel for those who have not yet noticed. An email advising of this would have been nice.
Same here.
I guess it's just Amazon deciding how we run our businesses again, treating us like employees (without the benefit of paid holidays, sick pay, pensions or any other employment rights) rather than as independent businesses.
I get there need to be policies to ensure customers can know what they are getting, but the boundaries keep getting pushed and never in our favour !
Same thing has happened to me - I make handmade items so I have it on 2 days dispatch time so I make them properly and in time to ship. Now I've got to rush to make and ship them all today. I have just switched it back but it says my actions won't change until the 1st August?
I checked my settings and automatic handling is present as a 'new' feature but is not active.
I will keep an eye on it.
Incidentally, if you use Firefox with the 'ublock' extension, you need to disable it temporarily in order to see the shipping settings.
Same here. We noticed that 2nd class buy shipping was not available as would not be delivered in time. Initially couldn't work it out as the listings showed handling time 5 days. Checked the shipping template initially and noticed that domestic shipping had been changed to 1-2 days instead of 3-5 days. You might want to check yours.
As a result of this discussion I also checked the handling time and noted, as others have done, that automated handling times have been switched on.
End result was loss to us due to difference in price of first class. Thanks Amazon!
Thank you for pointing that out. I can see that some of my shipping has been upgraded to Tracked 24 - I'm not sure how to switch it back to Tracked 48. I can't find that on the templates. Any ideas? TIA
Yes - VERY irritating. I didn't ask Amazon to do this and had no notification. In effect this meant that for two days I had to post orders first class to avoid defects on my account - which does not make financial sense to me as a lot of my orders are for a few pounds only.
I have returned my shipping times to the way it was - 2 days handling tme - but I don't need this hassle and am peeded off that Amazon uniilateraly made this change to my FBM account. What's next?
