UK Amazon FBA Insurance

Hi All,

I am a relatively new seller with less than 1k turnover (just as some context).

I have been doing some research and have come across the need for public/product liability insurance? I am based in the UK and only sell on the UK marketplace. Does anyone have any suggestions on my insurance requirements/recommendations where you got your insurance from?

Many thanks!

Direct Line was the one I chose after much searching. Product Liability only.

Loads of different suppliers , we’re with directline as we get a discount having car etc too

Just to check too as you specifically stated you are under the £1k turnover that you are still registered with hmrc and amazon as a business seller?

Unless your selling your own brand, I would worry mainly about public liability insurance.
For your kind of turnover, it really isn’t going to cost much.
But your best bet, is simply to use a broker and get some quotes. It’s all pretty much the same, with a base of usually £1m cover.
Product liability is a different thing entirely and will depend entirely on what it is that you are selling. But again, use a broker.

On a side note to original question -
I was with Direct Line myself. But on my last renewal they did not send me any letter or email to inform me my insurance was due to expire. I even checked historical emails and I found renewal emails from previous year but not current year. When I logged into my account online it even showed that they had sent no renewal message (previous years renewal messages were all there though).
It then took them 10 months to send me me a letter saying they were sorry I had left!!
It seems I was without insurance for those 10 months. I could not get any straight answer why it took so long for them to inform me of this - they said they had tried twice to ring me. Funny as I have an answer machine so if they rang when I was out they did not leave any message. They also evaded the evidence of their own system showing no renewal message had ever been sent out.
Anyway, I then tried to renew but it seems the broker they use no longer will insure anyone selling goods classified as toys. I believe this is what caused the problem in that they could not renew automatically so somewhere along the line the renewal letter was not sent out.
Anyway, in the end I used a broker (InSync) and they managed to get me insurance with Zurich and it was less than I was paying with Direct Line.
