WARNING: IRELAND IS LIVE
by Seller_tj5bg90i9gyCk

I nearly got caught out by this too. Amazon should never have automatically opted sellers into the amazon.ie market!! Why did they do this with this one EU site and not the others?

WARNING: IRELAND IS LIVE
by Seller_19xPhE8YgkmxW

Hi All,

Just a quick warning - I've just gone in to put my stock on Holiday for the Xmas Period and found the Ireland market live

I put it on holiday as well, but if you don't want to sell to Ireland by default, I would suggest you put that market On holiday NOW!

Seasonal Greetings to All

Brian

How to add EU Responsible Person?
by Seller_tj5bg90i9gyCk

The UK Government's advice with regard to enforcement:

"In line with the Regulators’ Code, enforcement continues to be proportionate, risk-based and intelligence-led, minimising disruption to compliant UK businesses. Businesses are obliged to cooperate with Market Surveillance Authorities and comply with any actions taken by a Market Surveillance Authority. Authorities continue to have an initial focus on providing effective advice and support for UK businesses, helping them to understand and meet any new obligations they may have, and applying their discretion as businesses adapt."

I'm not expecting there to be any enforcement action against small-scale low-value businesses selling occasional secondhand books and other media items from one part of the UK (Great Britain) to another part of the UK (Northern Ireland). Even if the regulators have the time to contact such businesses via Amazon, I expect they will use their discretion, provide advice and encourage compliance rather than issue immediate fines.

FBM Book seller packaging
by Seller_ZVAz3d5lZuGid

As a book seller, I recycle all my packaging, and for heavier books I always try to put in cardboard box - which I create from any packaging I have on hand. Must say I have never had anyone say their order has arrived damaged in 18 years on here !!! I put in bubble wrap first and then inside cardboard, never just a plastic mailing bag.

FBM Book seller packaging
by Seller_vijjPUI46bUSN

Hi everyone,

I just wondering if anyone was able to give me any advice with regards to packaging books as an FBM Seller. I've noticed that when shipping book orders using book mailers a lot of the heavier books seem to burst/split the book mailer and I'm concerned about orders arriving damaged to customers.

Just wanting to know does any ship heavier books in normal mailing bags/ bubble wrap or is there a set packaging standard that you need to adhere to in line with Amazon policies?

Thanks

How to add EU Responsible Person?
by Seller_Nx3Da5XPngGEm

I wonder if they mean it's for new products manufactured more recently... it's unclear if already existing products need to have an EU rep. I am still waiting for Royal Mail to let me know if we need to take any action because of this. No one seems to have a straight answer. Also, if we still need an EU rep for products made before December, is this enough to fully comply? I am not sure.

Let's say we ship second hand or old books abroad for example or whether a "rep" is needed for these, I am not sure if we'd need to do anything differently. It's all very unclear at the moment.

How to add EU Responsible Person?
by Seller_tj5bg90i9gyCk

My reading of GPSR is that it applies principally or solely to products that might pose risks to the health and safety of consumers when used under reasonably foreseeable conditions. Printed books and most physical media items such as CDs and DVDs do not pose any kind of safety risk to consumers when used under reasonably foreseeable conditions.

I do not believe for one single moment that traders selling such items on Amazon will face fines for breaching GPSR e.g. for not having a 'responsible person' based in the EU or Northern Ireland: that would be completely bonkers and totally out of line with the stated aims of GPSR, which are entirely to do with product safety.

You have now started 5 threads for more or less the same topic - which is against forum guidelines, and likely that a forum mod will close 4 of them - you do need to stick to just one thread per topic. @Seller_mIRnuhdx7l5sN @Seller_DNQGSsdC7DccM

VTR Category Suspension
by Seller_vPTlUYc5NALmW

I’ve had one of my categories suspended so am in the process of writing an appeal. The reason for being under 95% is threefold - several ‘Invalid’ IDs with no tracking input, several where tracking was initially entered from buying online postage from RM but subsequently given new numbers at the post office (and not amended on orders) and lastly where on a few occasions I’d inadvertently input the letter O instead of a number 0.

So here is my poa so far - really grateful for any comments/advice/room for improvement before sending it off. Thanks.

The root causes that led to a lower than expected Valid Tracking Rate:

1) I did not fill in some tracking numbers at all which led to there being some 'Invalid' entries in my VTR

2) some labels purchased from Royal Mail online and initially input into orders were allocated new tracking numbers and/or carriers when dropping parcels at the post office but not subsequently updated on the orders

3) on occasion Royal Mail tracking numbers have been mistakenly, and carelessly, entered with the letter 'O' instead of a number '0' leading to 'Invalid' entries

What actions I have taken to resolve the lower than expected Valid Tracking Rate?

1) & 3) In order to prevent there being any missing or inaccurate tracking numbers I have now employed someone to assist purely in the recording of valid tracking numbers into every order

2) to avoid any possibility of being allocated different tracking numbers or carriers once already input, I have now signed up to a Royal Mail Business account. By picking up my mail it will avoid entirely any need to visit the post office and potentially receiving different tracking numbers.

What steps I have taken to prevent a lower than expected Valid Tracking Rate going forward

We have now re-read and familiarised ourselves with both the Valid Tracking Rate Policy (https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/help/hub/reference/G201817070?ref=sp_st_vtr_summary) and the Valid Tracking Rate FAQ (https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/help/hub/reference/202014610) in depth, noting the importance of inputting valid tracking numbers/carriers into all orders in order to prevent future Invalid IDs and breach of VTR policy and of course importantly, giving the customer a good buying experience. I believe both the collection of my mail by Royal Mail and the employment of an extra person dedicated to VTR responsibility will achieve this goal.

VTR Category Suspension
by Seller_vPTlUYc5NALmW

Sorry, another few questions - with root causes, although your version covers the fact some tracking numbers were not input at all do I not need to address that some numbers also got changed from first input but not updated on the orders or does what you've suggested cover all?

And do I need to send proof I'm now signed up to Click & Drop for automated tracking or will they know/see that anyway? Thanks!
