Action Required – Your Invoice Defect Rate Exceeds 5% - HELP

Hello, I just received a policy violation email saying that my Defect Rate has exceeded the threshold of 5% in Italy.

Further down in the email it says that

The thing is that I am VAT registered in all 5 countries and this was active for a long time.

This week I have been getting message requests for invoices too and I do not know what to do, before I just copy and pasted the one Amazon generated but now I have no idea what to do.

Any help is massively appreciated.

Have you looked which country your defect is from as there’s other threads on here saying the automatic invoicing has stopped in some other countries, off the top of my head Spain I think

Hi PMA,

Are these FBM orders that you are dispatching from the UK?

Amazon’s EU VAT Calculation Service can only be used for sales on the Amazon EU marketplaces. In principle, VAT Calculation Service only supports products that are dispatched from locations within the EU. However, for orders that are directly shipped from outside the EU into the EU, VAT Calculation Service will issue a receipt (i.e. a ‘proof of purchase’, not a VAT invoice) with no VAT calculation.

@PMA

It worked fine for Spain until a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea what changed, or why it needed to change. I didn’t notice until I was on a 50% invoice defect rate for Spain. (One of two business customers in Spain didn’t get an invoice auto uploaded). I’m guessing it changed on 1st July when VAT rules changed. There must be some legal reason why we have to supply the invoices manually now.

The only reason I can see is that Spain is a local VAT number. No idea on why for that either. I’m guessing everyone gets a local VAT number for Spain. We all know what a PITA it was to get a Spanish VAT number… No other country made us jump through so many hoops to be able to pay them money!
