Over the past week I have had orders mysteriously disappearing. Then I checked my ‘cancelled’ box (something I didn’t realise existed) and to my horror realised that Amazon had been doing this sporadically for 6 months … but with increasing frequency over the past few days. Some of the more recent orders have been using discount codes (only ever as high as 50% though) but a vast majority have not. I have items in stock, a 5 star seller rating and all my products are over 4.5 stars.
They say use ‘contact us’ which shows up no results as to why this may be the case.
Anyone else experienced this / have a reason for it?
Cancelled orders tab has been there for a while, it simply means customer either cancelled within the first 30 minutes which is the grace period before it is processed for shipment, or the order was pending for a while and eventually cancelled because customer didn’t confirm payment details etc. The orders were not cancelled by Amazon - they were simply cancelled by the customer who changed their mind or didn’t have valid payment details.
I should add this applies for seller fulfilled, if you are using Amazon fulfilled then I would not know what that looks like or how it works.

I’ve often done it when in 2 minds about buying or even gone back shopping and found something else that could do the job either better or cheaper.

I think the first 30 minutes allow you to cancel before amazon takes payment from the card but I’m not sure because I’ve cancelled the next day and not been charged. Amazon tends not to charge your card until after dispatch has been marked.
Edit: I think the first 30 minutes allow you to cancel before Amazon pre-validates the card and places a pending charge on it. But it does not process the charge until after dispatch.
