Amazon needlessly killing sales with delivery times for MFN

So sales have dropped significantly to zero over the last day or so for us. Our stock is both FBA and MFN (our MFN has the prime label too). As such, our sales have been largely unaffected until now because we can fulfil within a day and it’s delivered next day.

However, I’ve just looked at our listing and Amazon is pushing out delivery of it to 8 days. Yet, I’ve just looked a few dozen tracking numbers of orders gone out over the last few days via MFN and all of them were delivered next day (we send everything 24hr tracked).

I get that Amazon are being proactive and trying to protect us by over extending delivery expectations. But it’s just false and misleading to throw that date out so far. In our case, it’s killed sales completely.

Don’t forget Easter, extra days will be added for this at least.

We have always suffered from this with FBM, as a business we have always sent everything same day with either next day delivery or Royal Mail 1st class/24 services ever since we started.

But we can’t show this to customers because of how their postage rules work, we also sell via FBA so many of our big sellers it doesn’t matter anyway, but for all our lower volume stock, the customer never sees our real delivery times in FBM

I have no idea what they base the express delivery thing on as we only ever have it a for a few days a month before it gets removed, we don’t bother asking as we know it won’t make a difference.

It very much depends on what you sell. I have just checked our listings and whilst a few are pushed out to the same 8 day window, the vast majority are still by Wednesday next week (allows for 2 bank holidays). These are all toys and games category or vinyl records but vary in size and weight. I’m not even sure buyers are even looking at delivery dates at present, given the high level of sales that are still coming in. I wonder therefore is there something specific about your product which has killed your sales based on delivery time alone?

Ditto.

All my items are FBM. Sales were really picking up earlier in the week, but then stopped abruptly 2 days ago. And I mean stopped. 2 sales in the past 2 days. Looked at the listings and all the delivery dates have been pushed out. Customers now think items will take more than a week to deliver when everything is going out the same day and being delivered in a day or two.

The shops I sell in are shut. The events I sell at have all been cancelled for the entire year. Amazon WAS the only place I could keep my business going through. Now that’s been jeopardised too.

yes, I noticed this too. I think its unfair that Amazon take this descion on our behalf if we are not FBA. This actually gave us the edge over FBA but now without consulting us they changed it. How many years into our business relationship do we earn respect?

I wish our items were arriving on time. Royal Mail are having problems in some parts of the country as we’ve got items posted 30th, 31st that still have not arrived. They are trickling in to customers.

So many messages we turned FBM off.

So actually Amazon hasn’t killed your sales at all…

Yeah. I made a topic about this last week but pretty much got shot down:

Amazon’s response to me was this:

Please note that we are closely monitoring the developments of COVID-19 and its impact on our customers, selling partners, and carriers and hence we anticipate that shipments can be slowed down for all the sellers world wide.

As part of this , we may temporarily increase the standard transit time and thereby extend Seller’s delivery promise. This is done in a world wide scale, in order to ensure that we can maintain the customer trust as per our promised delivery dates.

Due to the above mentioned changes, the lesser transit time options are not displayed for all the sellers. Kindly note that this is as per the system designed and we will not be able to change it manually.
