Amazon tells buyers that they have not received my orders...?

I think there’s been a thread on this a long while ago, I did a search but can’t find it.
It sounds familiar, but I’d never had till tonight a buyer emailing me to say:

“Hi I just wanted to say that although Amazon thinks I didn’t receive the - - - - - - - , I did, including your letter inside. It’s in excellent condition and my daughter was delighted to receive it for Christmas. So thank you very much…”

What’s going on??

I went to RM’s site and the 2D tracking number even shows it was delivered on Nov 28th…

I know others have had that happen, how routine is this? Do they now do this when we post with only 2D tracking, as opposed to signature tracking?
And has anyone asked Amazon about it?

Thanks

Yes it normally happens with non tracked items (just the 2D delivery confirmation code - note that it’s a delivery confirmation code NOT a tracking number)
It’s a real pain as it opens up chancers trying it on saying something hasn’t been delivered. Worse is the ones where Amazon say they think it’s been lost.

I’ve never received this message from Amazon as a buyer, about any of my orders - and big sellers like Magpie surely don’t pay for full tracking either.
So does Amazon only does this on orders coming from small sellers?

Have you received any, how does it go - can anyone please copy & paste one?

Amazon don’t care if someone tries it on, they make money from you by charging a fee to process the refund.

It’s in their interests to tell buyers /scammers their item hasn’t arrived.

Please can people open cases with Seller Support/email the managing directors email about this problem.
We have emailed the Amazon MD address and they are actively looking into the problem but the more people who highlight the issue hopefully the sooner it may be resolved.

With the new A-Z rules if you use the Royal Mail’s 2D barcode system which Amazon’s system does not recognise you will instantly lose the case and its simply shows not delivered even which it is and worse tells customers the item is probably lost!

We have had 30/40 of these ‘I haven’t got my item’ for Amazon orders over the past few weeks.

Each time we reply with the delivery reference number showing exactly when the package was scanned on delivery, noting that Royal Mail handheld scanners contain GPS tracking information to show where a package has been scanned and that packages contain unique 2D barcodes which means that the package must be present in order to be scanned.

For 95% of the enquiries we strangely never hear anything back. Read into that what you will.

We have had a couple of buyers who have still claimed items have not been received despite the information provided and we are essentially forced to refund to prevent A-Z claims which are always found in favour of buyers regardless of the evidence provided (I don’t think that we have ever won one of these. Amazon seem to ignore all tracking and scan data and take the funds regardless).

I was debating their logic in the previous claim where they stated items needed a signature.

So, an item sent to Scotland, could be signed for in Wales and because it has been signed for it would be classed as delivered and the A-Z claim would be refused

However a package scanned on delivery with a GPS scanner showing the address that the scan was taken results in an A-Z claim being upheld and funds taken.

It’s a very strange system. Amazon is the only platform which we use that appears to take no notice of delivery evidence.

A few years ago Royal Mail packages were not trackable/scanned on the whole and we used to get INR claims which could not be disputed.

Then delivery scans/barcodes were introduced and we thought “great, we will have proof of delivery”. Now buyers simply say “I know it’s been scanned at my address, I know tracking shows delivery, but I haven’t received it”.

How long before postmen/couriers have to wear bodycams to prove delivery/acceptance at an address?

It has definitely been an eye opener over the last few weeks showing the level of buyers who are prepared to state that items which have been delivered, have not been delivered.

Interestingly we have also had 3/4 buyers, like the OP, who have contacted us stating that their Amazon account shows packages have been delayed/lost, but items were actually delivered.

Possibly an issue with the information which Amazon are getting from Royal Mail or not getting…

INR claims where tracking/scans show delivery is only a problem for us on Amazon.

We have this same issue on an almost daily basis with Amazon. No problem on ebay as they recognise the RM 2D tracking. Please confirm the email address or post address you used to submit a compliant to the MD and we will do the same to help build some extra pressure to get this addressed

Yes Amazon know about this issue, but by all mean report it, the more of us that do this perhaps they will give in and fix it someday.

Customers try this one all the time with us as you have mentioned Amazon keeps saying their parcel hasn’t arrived, when it has.

We have reported this many times over the past few years and nothing has been done about it.

Just reply to the customer that you have checked tracking “link”
and can see the parcel has been delivered at " " on the " " by their postman to their address.

Most of the time (98% of the time) when the customer can seen the tracking on the link you provide, they stop trying to pull a fast one.

This is one of the main reasons why we’re removing a lot of our smaller, large letter size items from Amazon. Sending them with a fully tracked service is just not feasible so we send them using RM48 with 2D barcode but we’re seeing a huge increase in “chancers” as a result of these incorrect Amazon emails. We’ve had a surge of “where’s my item” emails since the start of December, all with delivery confirmation and not a single one has had to be refunded nor have we had any repercussions whatsoever (e.g. negative feedback, A-Z’s etc).

Our initial response is always “The tracking number confirms that it was delivered on xxxx at xxxx. Please can you double check at your address”. About 95% of the time we don’t hear anything. The remaining 5% usually respond that they definitely don’t have it so our next response is:

"- Can you confirm that your address is xxxx?
In addition, please could you confirm the following:

  • Has your parcel been left with a neighbour or an agreed safe place?
  • Was a red calling card left by the postman?
Please note that these are questions which Royal Mail request we ask before we report this to them. As we have delivery confirmation, Royal Mail will then be able to provide us with a GPS location of where the postman was when they scanned the barcode immediately before delivery."

To date, after sending this second message every single time the parcel has miraculously appeared.
