Can the Inventory Performance Index be trusted?

My IPI reach a high in mid July but for the last 6 weeks it been dropping consistently every week. The strange thing is my sales for this months are set to be triple what they were last month, and the net inventory level while still healthy is also lower.

This is very worrying because the IPI doesn’t seem to equate with reality. When I click for more details it says the problem is sell through rate.

How on earth can sell through rate be the problem when sales have tripled? The IPI is either broken or it’s measuring some hidden metric that I’m not aware of.

Anyone else getting strange results?

It is because they don’t take a snapshot now. The average out a number of snapshots over the last 3/4 months.

I have the same problem. It just keeps dropping and dropping.

If you would like to learn more about how the Inventory Performance Index works, I would advise you to check this thread on the Amazon USA Seller Forum where sellers were discussing their own experience:

or contact @FunkyMonkey who is the expert on this matter.
