Hi guys, I am new to Amazon. I would like to ask : Do I have to ship my items with tracking number? My envelope is very light, the cost of the product is 10 pounds and the tracking number with standard post costs me around 7 pounds. How would you deal with this enormous cost of one shipping? I sell only one product and it is always the same weight, but this tracking number (registered post) its really killing my business. Please help, is it necessary to provide tracking number to Amazon? What are the requirements? I cant find any info. Thank you for your reply.
No, there is no such requirement. You can ship items using any service or carrier which you find to be appropriate (unless this is Premium Delivery or a Seller Fulfilled Prime order) as long as the package reaches the buyer intact.
However, in case a potential A-Z claim gets opened over non-receipt, Amazon will most likely find it in the buyer’s favor unless you are able to supply tracking showing delivery along with a signature.
click&drop Royal mail charge around…
£1.20 for large letters
£3.18 for parcels up to 2kg
Delivery confirmation but no tracking and no compensation for missing parcels.
For heavier items use parcel2go where you will get tracking for c. £5.50
No requirement for Tracking - you just need to do the maths - i.e. do you save more in a month on no-tracking than you lose in a month on claims for non-delivery - or more accurately for deliveries where you cannot prove delivery ?
If you are based close enough to the border, then try popping into a UK Post Office and getting a price for 1st Class SignedFor. At a guess I’d say you could easily save £4-£5 per item on your postage costs and if you send enough items each day it should easily cover the Diesel driving over the border.
We are based in Belfast. Could ship bulk to us and we could do dispatch with a tracked UK courier?
i only use tracked 1st class Royal mail on items over £10.00, but it depends are you a private seller or registered as a business (£30.00 a month) ?
You don’t have to but it is advisable on more expensive items.
Unless you have tons of INR claims, it seems nuts to spend that much on tracking. How many INR claims do you get versus items sold, do you have a rough percentage?
