French VAT number
Hello, My company established in Thailand and sell through Amazon.fr. Last year Amazon claimed that my sales on Amazon.fr reached over €40000 so I need to get French VAT number from distance selling threshold. I informed Amazon that I do not ship my orders from France nor have my inventory stored in any of the EU countries. I ship my goods directly from Thailand to France so distance selling threshold should not be applied to me. They replied me that no matter where my goods are shipped from, if my sales over €40000 I need French VAT number. I asked Global VAT Compliance (tax advisor recommended by Amazon), they said do not argue with Amazon, just get what Amazon need. Anyone has the same issue like me? Thank you.

That is correct, you will need to get vat registered in France (35,000€ threshold - in EU)

You must be sending your goods duty paid to French customers, is that right? Since Amazon rules state they should not have to pay vat or taxes to receive goods that they buy on their local marketplace.
If you are sending goods duty paid then you are the importer of record for these goods and this can trigger a VAT registration liability. Again, go with professional advice always.
