Giving up -the towel is being thrown

I’m just about to throw the towel in on our amazon account. Our sales have consistently slid on this platform despite (when we used to receive it) good feedback. It seems the final nail for us is being flagged ‘At Risk’. This happened I think because of the way the metrics work. As sales were decreasing we then had what I believe to be a scam by a customer but whilst Amazon were assuring me of the their best efforts, telling me how much they loved us and the sky really is sky blue pink (Ok I made the last one up) the customer raised an A-Z, our 2nd in 11 years trading on Amazon, and of course it was granted because despite the customer saying he had the parcel it wasn’t tracked and therefore he hadn’t received it! and here we are, 2 sales in 14 days one of which is being returned as I type. Apparently it wasn’t what they wanted after the weekend was over.

Anyway good luck to those persevering and to those sellers past & present who have freely given advice when we started and through the learning curve. Cheers

Yes us to…we’ve seen sales drop every year tried everything…

it’s now at the point where our bestselling lines have been demoted down to page 3 this has happened in the last 3 to 4 days, now sales are at an all time low.

Looking at the search it’s clear it’s FBA or nothing, virtually all the search results are ‘prime’ There’s obviously been some sort of change just recently.
amazon have you over a barrel, get everyone over to FBA then hike the FBA fees. for all those doing okay, make the most of it, in our categories I’ve seen virtually all the smaller specialist companies get pushed out.

we are winding it down here as well…

Yep we’re on our way out as well.

so far this month I’ve taken about 40% of our lines off amazon.

As time permits I’m going back through our social channels and removing links to our amazon products and then removing the product from amazon itself. Hopefully it should be completed by the end of this month.

Hang in there and see what happens on the 15th as there should be a big cull of China sellers due to the new Finance Law and VAT evasion

We’ve just had an a-z because the buyer didn’t get either of the emails I sent through Amazon and I assumed they’d changed their minds on the return.

I have to admit I used to see Amazon as something to treasure and ensure its survival - now we sell more on eBay which is very odd for us since it used to be the other way around.

Our acount is also “at risk” as the customer could not work out how to request return despite us talking her through it 3 times , A to Z opened and found in her favour but paid out of Amazon funds , BUT it is an A to Z so now our acount is at risk

Dead here too in the Video Game category, decided to cancel the Professional Membership as its not worth the money when there’s no sales, i’d like to blame it on the Easter holidays but lets face it traffic has been down considerably recently and with everyone racing to the bottom with auto pricing its really just a massive headache.

Anyway stick it out and see what happens i know there’s added cost sending things tracked (Esp since the royal mail increased to £2.50 for large letters signed) but its worth it just for piece of mind and so the metrics don’t take a hit.

Good Luck.

Having no illusions and ready to jump ship. A total shambles and as soon as sales do not warrant staying I’m gone.

In the process of jumping ship now , not only is Amazon for me too unreliable (7 sales in 7 days then 9 in 30 mins , it is so strange) the seller support & feedback system is dreadful . Can honestly say the grass is greener on other selling platforms.

Did you try selling on other Amazon marketplaces? You can offer your items for sale on Amazon DE, FR, IT, ES, USA, CA, MX, JP, AU… By selling on all possible Amazon sites you will be able to get higher volume of sales. Amazon UK does not generate more than a few hundreds of sales per month to me neither, it has always been a slow market.

I do not know which category of items you are selling but I would suggest you to try FBA.
Are your listings showing any quality alerts or listing enhancements? If yes, fix them. Make sure that all your listings are 100% perfect because Amazon is hiding listings which do not comply with the requirements from the search results.
It can be difficult to find your way how to be successful on Amazon and it takes a lot of hard work but I would suggest you don’t give up. It took me 2 years to start getting thousands of sales on Amazon per month.
Here is my favorite motivational picture which I use when I am not doing well in business:
