Read onlySo I see in the news today any seller selling over 4k per month has to have product liability through Simply Business mentioning Amazon in the policy - as a small print business we have not got any real experience on this - is it only required for products such as electrical items which could cause damage, or are we liable for printed products, Amazon as usual don't really help ?
My heart sank when I read the email and then the web page. Yet more expense, red tape and bureaucracy. How many insurance policies specifically name Amazon?
I'm a small sole trader. I have group insurance for artists from Hiscox via an artists non-profit company.
So in the event they ask for a copy of my insurance docs, I now have to get my insurance elsewhere?

I already have a product liability insurance so I am not worried about that. I worry that it will be the A-Z team dealing with this.
Does this mean people can put claims in for damage and Amazon will just refund like they do with A to Z at the moment without any evidence?

The insurance threshold for FBA, as far as I am aware, has always been in place. Sellers are required to have product liability insurance if selling over the 4k limit per month. What has changed is the addition to the A-Z claims now including damage to property and/or personal injury.

You can find more information on insurance thresholds in the "Insurance Threshold" section of the Business Solutions Agreement.
The thresholds are:
If the gross proceeds from your transactions exceed the applicable Insurance Threshold during any month, or otherwise if requested by Amazon, you will need to maintain public third party liability insurance within thirty (30) days.

Well my group insurance company got back to me this morning -
"We have never been able to name individuals or third parties companies on group policies as it is not necessary as the policy includes what is called an ‘indemnity to principals clause’" & "All organisations that you deal with therefore be covered without the need to name them and Amazon would find this acceptable"
I've told them that Amazon being Amazon would almost be guaranteed to not accept this. So, I'm leaving it for now. I don't see them changing anything and will re-evaluate later on when I have more time.

It really is not worth it, how many other people have thrown the towel in after reading this, they will automatically take money from your account if someone makes up crap that is not true irrelevant how much you make a month. ENOUGH.
