How is this possible?

Apart from the fact that the same product and same size is available from Fresh for £3, the brand belongs to Unilever as far as I know.

Because they will have allowed that company to upload a product with their own brand and barcode - and the bots clearly aren’t designed to look for every brand name within the actual product.
£38 for mayo though!

It because they are working the system.
They have probably registered a brand, then got an EAN and just created a product.
But if there is a complaint, they are likely to lose their account.
This happens far more often than it should.

Are they going to sell at £38 a product that you can find everywhere for a few pounds, even at the corner shop near me it’s about £5? It’s hardly something that is difficult to find.

There were loads like that during lockdown.
That’s exactly the sort of price-gouging that Amazon’s fair pricing bots should be going after.
Instead they suppress sellers listing old books for pennies above Amazon’s ancient cover price for unavailable phantom copies that have been out of print for 40+ years…:

this must be the version with the hidden plastic gold rings inside

These guys have “rebranded” our products as their own (ie created new listings with fake EANs under their brand) and are selling them. I’ve raised it with Amazon who obviously haven’t even bothered to reply. I don’t really understand why these sellers bother with this kind of stuff, they can’t sell many items.

My guess is they are a dropshipper. But clever they have created their own brand - and spent a long time doing it. They list over 5000 products of their own brand - I just checked a handful and they have over 999 in stock of them all!
They operate out of a shared office unit. There is no way they could hold that amount of stock across all those lines - unless they had a warehouse the size of an Amazon FC centre!
Defo drop shipping (Or just nipping to the local shops to buy their products!)

The bottom line is that they are breaking quite a few rules. I do agree that sometimes people pay more for the convenience of having stuff delivered at home. I have done it myself but normally we are talking a couple of pounds that if you consider the cost of transport and my time is not that expensive. I would never ever pay £38 for 750 ml of mayonnaise, which, if I am too lazy to walk to Sainsburys local, I can buy in my local shop for about £5. If I can’t go to the local shop, there are many alternatives on Amazon for a lot less or I could ask my neighbour to get me one.

I have seen this seller in the past, months ago selling regular groceries at exorbitant prices. I wanted to start a thread on it, but then thought, what’s the point… Go to their Amazon store and check the prices of their other products. It’s amazing that people actually purchase goods from this seller. This is clearly a scam, and I mean a proper scam that Amazon have not picked up on yet.

I’ll undercut Neil and sell you a whole bag for 49.99!
