Listing generic item

Hi everyone, just starting the journey and I am confused around listing generic items (not yet sold on amazon and ones already being sold), reselling ie. from costco/lidl, etc. Would I still need to apply for the GS1 codes?
Are there any other restrictions, ie. would Livarno products from Lidl be restricted due to branding?
Thanks for your patience

If you are buying goods from Costco or Lidl, you cannot list them as new - you must list retail arbitrage stock as used
They should have a barcode on and won’t be generic

Reselling from the likes of costco / lidl is not a recommended business model as you’d need to list the items as Used-Like New rather than New and for a new account you may well get stuck when Amazon ask for invoices as you wont have any.

Have you by any chance been watching Youtube videos ? - then forget a lot of what you have heard, and instead check out Amazon’s own Seller University (learn at bottom of seller homepage)

As above, cannot be listed as ‘new’, would need to be ‘Used-like new’, and just a word of warning - RA (retail arbitrage) is not really the best model for Amazon - they do have quite strict rules about arbitrage - check them out.
Items from Lidl etc will have barcodes on them.

Thanks everyone, many useful information, especially liking the “forget about the YouTube”
Happy selling
