Merging 2 accounts - implications?

Hello everyone,

My colleague manages the Amazon US side of our business and I manage the EU side. We have 2 accounts ( 1 for US and one for UK) with 2 different log ins and email addresses.

We are now wondering if it would be possible to merge the 2 accounts and what would the implications would be? Is it possible to merge 2 accounts that are linked to a same company but have 2 different account owners? Can we decide who the account owner will be if we merge them?

So this is what I have found in our help pages:

Merging of accounts policy

All sellers are expected to adhere to the following policy when merging their accounts. Merging of accounts is permanent. Once you have merged your accounts, you will not be able to undo the merge.

  • You can only merge accounts for which you are the owner.
  • If you are a Solutions Provider, web agency or integrator managing the account, do not merge accounts. Instead, consult the account owner and ask them to take this action directly. Once merged, accounts cannot be unmerged.

@ Gluten_Free_Meister I have contacted the Seller Support team. It has been confirmed that to merge two accounts we need the same owner of both accounts indeed.

The main purpose of the account merging process is to enable the same owner to open business in other marketplaces.

I apologize for this confusion and contradictory advice.
