New Seller Account - been charged 11 times across two payment cards?

I’m posting here as after 90 minutes of going around in circles, have been unable to find a ‘help’ or ‘send us a message’ button.

I created my seller account a few days ago and was told it couldn’t use my prepay debit card (I always use this for new online purchases). However there were eight transactions between 3p and £1 all on the same evening on that card. I tried a new card and there have been four transactions for similar amounts on that card.

There’s no record of these transactions on my seller dashboard anywhere. Do I contact my banks as suspected fraud or is there a simple explanation?

Any help (or a call from Amazon?) would be much appreciated.

Amazon is trying to verify your account by “taking” small amounts of money to test. Its obviously not working so something wrong. Do you have at least £5 in that account at ALL times? By the way Amazon don’t take your money - its just temporarily reserved. There wont be a record on your dashboard.

Prepaid cards aren’t accepted.

Whenever Amazon try to test the validity of a card, or make a payment to your account they always do a “test” first.
This involves requesting a payment of £1 from your bank, this money is not actually taken but is held pending by the bank for a few days.
If you do not have sufficient funds in your account then the test fails. Amazon often try multiple times and from different sources, to validate your card.
If you become verified as a seller you will become used to this practice.
