Seller support telling a customer to keep product and refund

This goes beyond poor service, I have a customer who orders a product, then the familiar item not received email, I checked the tracking and RM state the item was attempted, but nobody was at home, I email the customer who demands a refund, I reply well you can arrange a redelivery if you like, a further email “you arrange it” I arranged the redelivery for the day requested RM state he wasn’t home again, thinking this seems dodgy now I email the customer to find out what’s going on, he demands a refund as SS have told him he is entitled to an immediate refund.
So I check again and item is still in the RM depot I refund him email him end of, it now turns out the then re-arranges a delivery himself for the goods, accepts them.
He now is saying seller support have told him to keep the product and the refund and there is no need for a recharge?
What is going on?

A well known scam - not at home, fail to rearrange delivery, then once you’ve refunded they collect.

Letter Before Action to the buyer 2 choices return or pay for item before court action is started.I would also report the buyer to Action Fraud.Amazon refund is irrelevant the buyer has fraudulently taken possesion of the goods.
