Unable to list product on Amazon- HELP!
Hello all and thanks for helping out.
I have been trying to fix this problem for some time.
I am importing products from abroad which are generic kites (they are packaged individually in polyester carry bags). There is no branding on the kite or on the carry bag.
For some context, I am also pending a trademark for my brand ‘HomeKitchenGardenware’. I have been unable to register with Brand Registry as my products do not yet have this brand permeanantly affixed to them.
I havw registered with GS1 and acquired a barcode for this specific item. During this process of acquiring the barcode I made sure to put ‘HomeKitchenGardenware’ down as the brand name on the GS1 website. I also have a seperate barcode with ‘Generic’ and yet another with ‘N/A’ as the respective brands.
I am trying to list this unbranded product, but after a long, long time trying, I cannot find any way.
If I try to put ‘HomeKitchenGardenware’ down as the brand, I get error code:
"Error!
Amazon must approve your brand before you can use it to list products. Brands should be registered through Brand Registry, but if your brand is not eligible for Brand Registry, you can obtain an exception by contacting Seller Support and mentioning error code 5665.
When contacting Seller Support, provide the following information:
- The brand name used when creating the listing.
- Images of the product and packaging, showing branding on either. The images can show the product and packaging held in hand, or placed on a table. The branding must be permanently affixed.
- If using inventory file templates, please also provide the Batch ID of the inventory file process report…"
If I try to put N/A as the brand name, a red banner appears at the top of the screen with error:
“Fix 1 errors before submitting your listing
Go to the steps highlighted in red to view and fix the errors”
This then highlights the Brand section as being the error.
I have tried ‘N/’, ‘n/a’, ‘generic’, ‘Generic’, ‘APC’, and many other suggestions which I have seen on other forums but none of them work.
Under the ‘Product ID’ section I have tried leaving it blank, and the other barcodes too. Again nothing is accepted.
Does anyone have a fix to this issue? I would really, really a appreciate some help!

Then it is a ‘generic’ product as it stands now.
You will not be able to complete brand registry without the approved trademark and your brand will need to be permanently affixed to the product or (depending on the product) custom packaging. A sticker with your ‘brand’ will be insufficient.
So you have created 3 barcode for the same product? Why? Did you put one of the EAN barcode numbers in?

Jusr to add to what @BabyBelle has explained. Do you have the appropriate safety markings on these bags.
Also, if you do manage to list and sell these as ‘generic’ now, you will not be able to change this after your brand is created, you will have to create a new listing
I suspect you will also have ‘other ducks to get in order’ so I would consider waiting until you receive your trade mark and make sure everything is correct - for instance, do you have the apropriate invoices etc

In part you are right but just because others get away with it doesnt mean you can or should - its your liability insurance that would be hit if something went wrong.
The other difference is your kite is a toy therefore must adhere to toy regulations

Additionally i did get in touch with Seller Support and they allowed me to list the product as Generic, so that problem has been solved.
However I acknowledge that this means I cannot brand the product at a later stage which is quite annoying. I was planning for the next shipment to be branded, but I guess for that I would have to pass brand registry, make sure the product is compliant (has the brand permanently affixed etc), sort out the trademark end of things and then create a new listing?

Does your CE mark look like the one on the left or the one on the right?

At the risk of also being called sarcastic I like the idea of flying children too …
Seriously though @Kingstar is right, 2 spelling mistakes and grammatical errors dont say professional to me and would make me think I’d bought a cheap product

With regards to the barcode: the product arrived without one- I have enrolled with GS1 and can apply a unique barcode to the product, but my understanding was that if I am sending this to the FBA warehouse then I would be provided with an Amazon barcode to print and apply to each item- am I mistaken here or should I apply my own?
