What does the verification team actually get up to?

I’m new to this platform and wanted to get started as quickly as possible as I’ve got products to sell right now.
One thing I need help with is knowing how long it takes for the charge method to get verified I’ve been waiting for a while, but haven’t gotten any messages saying that the card I summited is invalid, I’m just here waiting for a long time.
Plus what cards does Amazon accept, I added my debit card as not everyone in this world has a credit card.
