Customer request for invoice on returned order
Hi,
A customer purchase an item in a very unusual size. We emailed for more info but got no reply so sent the order to avoid Amazon bad mark.
Customer then requested to return the item as “not suitable”. We issued a refund.
Customer is now asking us to provide an invoice for the item?
We did include the usual Amazon invoice with the item - but in any event, she returned it so can’t think of a legitimate reason for requesting.
Since she didn’t “buy” the item, I don’t think we should provide another copy of the invoice?

Well she did actually buy it i.e money passed hands and then she returned it but she is still entitled to an invoice.
Perhaps she just needs it for her book keeping to show that the purchase was made but then funds returned.

If they’re requesting an invoice then they’ll probably request a credit note too

That is sufficient, don’t provide a personal one

I usually just print the Amazon invoice off from the Orders page.
I’ve never asked the seller directly for an invoice.
Maybe Vat registered is different? Although I notice the Amazon ones also show the Vat breakdown

I would provide an invoice with the item on one line, and refunded the item on the second line. Total invoice £0.00

Thanks everyone for your advice. I am not saying this is the case here but it occurs to me that it’s a good wheeze - order lots of stuff on Amazon, return it for a refund but then still put the item through your accounts.
I doubt big sellers even check - just send out a copy as requested?
I will do as suggested - create an invoice with zero total and show purchase with refund.
thanks again - great to have this support
