Living in the Republic of Ireland, Selling in the UK
I’m a new seller on Amazon UK. My first product will be arriving into the UK warehouse From China in a months time. As I live in Ireland and my product will be stored and sold in the UK I was wondering what needs to be taken care of in terms of VAT. I was told I could register as a sole trader in the UK and avoid paying VAT until I exceeded the threshold. If anyone has any experience with this or just information that would be great.

Yes, you will need to be VAT registered If you live in the Republic of Ireland and are storing your inventory in UK fulfillment centres, as there is no threshold.

Overseas businesses [using an online marketplace] to sell goods in the UK, where those goods are in the UK at the point of sale or sold to a UK customer and then imported in the UK by the seller.
If you use an online marketplace to sell such goods in the UK you must register for VAT by submitting a [VAT1 ‘Application for Registration’]. You can find more info here:VAT
