VAT on purchases from AliExpress
Has anyone had success registering their VAT number with AliExpress to get the VAT reverse charged? At the beginning of the year I filled in a form which popped up on the AliExpress page on my phone to register my VAT number with them. They are still charging me VAT on every transaction and I’m not convinced any humans actually work there - the only help I can find is the beyond useless bot Eva. The form has long since disappeared and I can’t find anywhere else on the site to enter my VAT number. As I am on flat rate VAT, I can’t just reclaim the VAT later, I need it removed at source.
If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful!! Thanks in advance

Am I right in thinking Imported Purchases are dealt with separately from the flat rate scheme?
I would suspect they’re not geared up for it yet with being so many different stores.

Why would you think they will do that? There is no VAT treaty with China so supply of goods would not be covered under reverse charge.
As far as I am aware, reverse charge on supply of goods only exists within the EU - and we left that system on 31st December so even that doesn’t apply to us now.

If you’re on flat rate vat you can’t claim back import vat though or am I wrong?

Google states -
aliexpress is just a platform, thus vat is a issue for the retailers, who ship individually
