Refund request for an item that is 1 day late via Royal Mail - What are the seller rights?

Hi Everybody,

An order I posted via Royal Mail has not been delivered today (it was supposed to arrived based on Amazon’s calculations). Order was posted on the same day.
The buyer wants a refund now since the order is late.
Where does the seller stand here ? Do I need to provide this item for free since the customer doesn’t want to wait for another day or two.
I contacted Amazon but they said I need to agree a solution with buyer and they want to inform me that the buyer has not opened a return request. (Stated the obvious)
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

If they want a refund they can return it. Though you would be liable for the return costs. So the other option would be to potentially agree a partial discount, to avoid having to pay for a return label.

Oh having reread, I see that the buyer hasn’t yet received the item. We generally ask if they could kindly wait a couple more days, though you will get some who stick to their guns and demand.

My question would be is it a amazon prime sale… If not I would advise customers that due to the bank holiday all deliveries through RM Has an extra couple of days.
Then I would say Unfortunately I’m not a charity. Might be better leaving that out.

Then if there not happy tel them once you receive the item back you can refund them there money.

Obviously this may get bad feedback so you might be better just refunding them but that is amazon for you.

The delivery date estimated and not actual. It’s become the normal that not every order will be delivered on estimate delivery date 100% of the time. Often delivery dates are reschedule and sometimes earlier than the date advised.

This kind of things really make my blood boil - Amazon even state “Estimated delivery date”, there is no mention of Guaranteed delivery date, then they ask us to give it to the customer as a gift. If only they played by the same game, had an order this week for some items we really needed urgently, so placed with Amazon Prime Next Day - this was on Monday, and they did not even dispatch the order till Wednesday, so we got on Thursday. When I asked for a refund was told - you will have to return them before we can offer a refund. In the meantime we had to purchae locally, and are currently 450.00 out of pocket.

I appreciate that Amazon have high stand\rds which we all have to love up to - however Amazon really need to do the same, which currently they do not.
